Digital nomads

Digital nomads

Since 21 November 2025, a foreigner who is not a citizen of the EU or the EEA may obtain a temporary residence permit as a digital nomad (Article 51a of ZTuj-2). The conditions are:

  • employment or work under a contract with a company established outside Slovenia, or self-employment abroad, with the work carried out remotely;
  • a valid travel document and adequate health insurance;
  • means of subsistence on a monthly basis of at least twice the average monthly net salary in Slovenia;
  • no grounds for refusal.

The permit is issued for no more than one year and is not extended; a foreigner may apply for a new permit six months after the previous one has expired. As a rule, the application is lodged with a diplomatic mission or consular post abroad; a foreigner who already resides lawfully in Slovenia may also lodge it with an administrative unit.

How we help you

We check whether you meet the conditions, prepare the application and a list of the required documents and, on the basis of a power of attorney, represent you in the administrative procedure. If your application is refused, we help you prepare legal remedies.

You can find the general conditions, the extension of permits and an overview of all types of permit on the page Residence permits in the Republic of Slovenia.

Each case depends on its specific circumstances, so the outcome of the procedure cannot be guaranteed in advance. Tell us about your case and we will arrange a date for a consultation: write to us or call us on +386 40 832 660.
