Self-employment

Self-employment

A foreigner who wishes to work in Slovenia as a self-employed person (e.g. as a sole trader) may be issued a single permit for work as a self-employed person (Article 37b of ZTuj-2 and Article 15 of ZZSDT). The conditions are:

  • at least one year of uninterrupted legal residence in Slovenia (this does not apply to a foreigner entered in the Business Register as a person pursuing a professional activity in a self-employed capacity);
  • the general conditions under Article 33 of ZTuj-2.

Consent of the Employment Service is not required for self-employment.

How we help you

We check whether you meet the conditions, prepare the application and a list of the required documents and, on the basis of a power of attorney, represent you in the administrative procedure. If your application is refused, we help you prepare legal remedies.

You can find the general conditions, the extension of permits and an overview of all types of permit on the page Residence permits in the Republic of Slovenia.

Each case depends on its specific circumstances, so the outcome of the procedure cannot be guaranteed in advance. Tell us about your case and we will arrange a date for a consultation: write to us or call us on +386 40 832 660.
